In today's digital landscape, maintaining the security of your financial information is paramount.
Cledara employs stringent security measures to protect your virtual card details within the PCI DSS environment.
What is the PCI DSS environment?
The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) environment adheres to the PCI security standards on everything from encryption, security and access controls, to regular monitoring and vulnerability management. This ensures that your data is strictly confidential and integral against fraud attempts and security breaches.
Upholding this security standard, we do not store your card details in Cledara. Your card details are requested and pulled directly from the PCI DSS environment the moment you click View card details, and they are accessible only to the authorised requester.
However, vulnerabilities can still exist outside this controlled space. This article will cover the following:
- How to prevent fraudulent transactions
- How to identify suspicious activities
- What to do if your card is compromised
- How to recoup lost funds
Best practices to prevent fraudulent transactions
Here are the best practices to protect your cards and accounts with Cledara:
Do not copy your card details out of the PCI DSS environment in Cledara.
Avoid saving card details on websites that you do not frequently use.
Do not share your card details with anyone, including Cledara Support.
Create supplementary cards for each user who needs to pay for the same vendor.
Frequently check your transaction history for any unusual or unauthorised activity.
What should I look out for?
Here are the common scenarios in which you should review your transactions and take proactive steps to prevent financial loss:
Your card is used to make transactions that you do not recognise.
Your card created from one vendor is being used to pay for a different vendor.
Your card is accessed by a user who is away for holiday.
Extra payments have been made unexpectedly between vendor renewals.
A vendor that you have paid for with Cledara experiences a security breach.
What do I do if I spot an unrecognised transaction?
If you suspect that your card has been compromised, or if your vendor has let you know that they have experienced a security breach, here are the steps to safeguard your assets:
- Disable your card immediately.
- If you suspect a user account has been compromised, reset their password or disable their user.
- Report your suspicion to support@cledara.com, who will assist you in generating a new card to continue your payments.
- Review the transactions with the Application Owner, the Team Manager, and your Admins.
How do I recoup the funds?
We encourage you to always reach out to the merchant to see if they have any refund policies for compromised accounts and fraudulent transactions.
Cledara can help you raise a chargeback case to dispute a fraudulent transaction. Please note that chargeback claims can take 3 months to resolve, and failed claims will incur a £30 fee for each disputed transaction.
Transactions may not be eligible for certain chargeback rights if they have benefited from the 3DS exemption of the card.
