Connect AI applications to AI Dashboard

The Cledara AI Dashboard allows you to track usage-based AI spend across your organisation by connecting your AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Cursor.

By linking your API keys, Cledara automatically aggregates usage, applies budgets, and visualises daily spend.

This guide explains how to connect your AI tools and start tracking usage immediately:

Connection requirements

To successfully connect an AI application, please ensure that:

  • You are an Admin on the organisation account for the AI provider: Only Admins can generate valid API keys. If a member generates a key, the connection will fail.
  • You connect usage-based developer API accounts: Subscription-based personal accounts cannot be connected.

FAQs

Which AI tools does Cledara support?

Cledara currently supports the following AI providers for usage-based spend tracking:

  • OpenAI
  • Anthropic
  • Cursor

These tools can be connected using API keys generated by an Admin of the organisation account.

Can I connect multiple accounts from the same AI provider?

Yes, you can connect one account per application in Cledara.

If your organisation uses multiple accounts with the same provider (for example, several OpenAI accounts), you can add a separate API key for each one.

If you have 10 OpenAI accounts, you can add 10 different API keys, and each one will appear as its own application in the AI Dashboard.

Since each key is treated independently, with its own owner assignment, budget, and usage data, you will need a separate application for each API key.

This allows you to track spend accurately across different teams, projects, or environments within the same provider.

Why am I seeing an 'Incorrect API Key provided' error?

You may see an “Incorrect API Key provided” error when connecting an AI provider to the Cledara AI Dashboard. This usually happens for one of the following reasons:

  • The API key was generated under a personal subscription account (e.g., ChatGPT or Claude), which cannot be connected because they are not usage-based developer accounts.
  • The API key was created by a user who is not an Admin of the organisation.
  • The API key is expired, deleted, or revoked.

To resolve, generate a new API key from the organisation's Admin dashboard for OpenAI or Anthropic (not ChatGPT or Claude), then reconnect it in Cledara.

Why can't I find my application in the dropdown when connecting?

If you don’t see your application listed, it is usually because the account is classified as a personal subscription product (e.g., ChatGPT or Claude) instead of an organisation-level developer account (e.g., OpenAI or Anthropic).

Here’s what to check:

If you have both a personal subscription account and an organisation developer account, make sure the application you are trying to connect belongs to the organisation account. If not, create a new application under your organisation account and try again.

If you do not have a personal subscription account and believe your application has been miscategorised, please contact Cledara Support at support@cledara.com. We can update the categorisation for you so it appears correctly in the list.
